Cruise Accessories

This is a lengthy list of items (bookmark it) with affiliate links that were super helpful when we traveled on our Carnival Cruises, most of these things will be useful for other cruise lines as well:

Wine Carrier Tote - Carnival allows each person to carry one bottle of wine aboard. This tote prevents carrying it awkwardly in a plastic bag while dragging luggage behind - while clenching the paperwork and passports - and the phone with the VeriFly app pulled up...
**She purchased, it because, “Why not?”, he had no clue she purchased it. But he‘ll be happy when he isn’t juggling her bottle of wine.

Magnetic Hooks - These hooks are super strong. We use them in our cabin for hanging wet laundry, and bathing suits, and use them to run an extension cord for his CPAP machine off the floor so no one trips on it.
**Thumbs up from both of them.

Over Door Hanging Organizer - This is great to store all the “little bits” one brings while traveling; meds, jewelry, first aid kit, makeup, soaps, and other hygiene products, receipts, paperwork, or any other small objects you don’t want floating around the room, and even…shoes, which I think is its original purpose. It comes with over-the-door hangers for the closet door, or you can hang it from the ceiling using the magnetic hooks mentioned above. **When she told him she got it and why, he was indifferent, however on the ship when it was in use, he did agree it was handy.

Waterproof Fanny Pack - Op-check it before using it, but you can put cash, your room key, and your ID inside this pack and it will stay dry while you go for a swim.
**They haven’t used theirs yet, but have used similar waterproof items before and they were a hit; a phone case, and an e-reader case.

Air Sanitizer OR PooPourri - We’ve never actually used these items aboard, but we were starting to get concerned with the number of odors in the hallways we’ve encountered and worried about “what-if” it gets in our room. And It’s usually just the two of us, and we can deal with each other, but I’ve heard some people aren’t as lucky and need the Poo Pourri for those stinky matters.
**She purchased some anyway and used the sanitizer one day at home when she burnt her breakfast to a crisp in the microwave, she followed the directions for the oven - and put it in the microwave. This is why he usually cooks. The sanitizer took the brunt of the stench from the hallway though, but it had a super strong odor. *The air sanitizer shouldn’t be used around food or food items, or where pets and children play and eat.

Water Shoes - Great to have on hand for beach shore excursions, especially if you’re not familiar with the terrain, and they’re nice for the hot shipboard decks to prevent feet from burning.
**When she got her order, he glared at her, she promptly asked him what size he needed and ordered him a pair. She honestly forgot that a critter got in the garage and chewed holes in his. Thumbs up from both.

Ultra-Light Foldable Backpack - I wouldn’t put anything sharp or really heavy in this, but it’s great for those last-minute souvenirs you don’t have room for because your luggage was jam-packed before you even left the house.
**Thumbs up from both, they like how small it folds up.

First Aid Kit - One bandaid can cost up to $3 at medical onboard, or so we’ve heard, so to prevent us from finding out we carry our own supply. **Thumbs up from both. Also, side note: they like to bring miscellaneous meds they have at home for “just in case” such as; Imodium, laxatives, Advil/Tylenol, Benadryl, etc. You can get most of these things on the ship at a cost either from medical, or some items (and feminine pads) are sold at the liquor shop onboard.

Liquid IV - If you aren’t used to the hot tropics and that’s where you’re headed, you might want to check this out to keep hydrated.

Dramamine - If you’ve never cruised before it might be good to have some onhand just in case. Avoid a trip to medical to get something for your motion sickness. This is the less drowsy version. There is a stronger one, however you might sleep through your vacation! Or go the all-natural way and try something like this, or wristbands. ***She uses the less-drowsy Dramamine on the last day of the cruise to help with the landsickness that follows the cruise, she gets it pretty bad if she doesn’t use this. While using this she hasn’t experienced the land sickness. Yay!

4 in 1 Pool Float - Easily packs away in the corner of the suitcase, and saves money renting floats on beach excursions. Speaking of the beach don’t forget to bring coral-reef-safe sunscreen.
**Two big thumbs up from both of them.

Ship Luggage Tags - Don’t use these for any travel other than when you arrive at the cruise terminal. The instructions tell you to just print out your luggage tags and fold then tape them while on your bags. The paper printout has your cabin number on it so they can deliver your bags to the correct room, but some people are worried the paper tags will rip and fall off, these ship luggage tags prevent that from happening.
*They both give this product a thumbs up.

Air Luggage Tags - These come in neon colors so you can’t miss them on the conveyor belt at the airport.
**He said, “Why?”, she said, “Because we’ll find our luggage easier.” He just shrugged, and now they own a set.

Sink Suds - Not all ships have washing machines on deck, so these little packets can be used in the bathroom sink to wash your clothing, then you can use the above-mentioned metal hooks to hang your items to dry.
**He used and approves of this product that he didn’t even know they had with them on the last cruise until they needed to wash something.

Phone Accessories - If you have a charger cord that’s on the fritz you might want to replace that before you go. Or shop for some new fancy earbuds for your trip.

Luggage - Upright: 20" x 13" x 7.5" (with wheels) & Tote bag: 13.5"x 11"x 5". They have similar luggage and find it’s the perfect fit for a quick trip!

Beverage Sleeves - When you’re sunbathing on the sun deck and your server brings your drink, it’s wet from condensation almost immediately. Slip one of these on and you will stay dry and your drink will stay cooler for a bit longer. (They just purchased it and haven’t used it yet!).

All-in-One Personal Protection Kit - Not that kind of protection, but you should pack that too if you need it! … We know protocols have changed, but some still aren’t comfortable in tight spaces while traveling. Here is a handy kit with a mask, wipes, and hand sanitizer in it. Perfect for travel.

Al Case Stand Fan, folding portable telescopic floor/USB desk fan - We don’t “need” a fan, so we never take one, we might regret it one day, but for now, we’re okay. But for those who have to have one, there are plenty of choices out there. This is just one example.

SAFE SEA Jellyfish/sea lice blocking sunscreen, SPF 50. There are some islands where you might come across jellyfish and sea lice, they ruin vacations with stingy and itchy skin for weeks after. Pack this coral reef-safe skin protectant.
**She heard on the forums that Bimini was hit hard with sea lice early summer of 2022 and quite a few people had uncomfortable rashes.
**Edit: After personally using this, we did see jellyfish, but none of us had any bites or itching after swimming in the water, however, the sunblock coverage wasn’t as good as hoped.

Recommended by others:

Rubber Ducks! - Because why not? Look up #crusingducks You’ll see what it’s all about!

Collapsible Water Bottle - Very handy indeed! Especially when you can’t carry your bottle in the airport full of water, you can hit up a water station and fill up your bottle after you’ve gotten through security. And super handy on a cruise ship, fill up with water on the go, saves from having to buy bottled water onboard.

Sound Machine - for those that need noise to sleep, or to drown out the noise from other people.

Reusable Straws - Hate those paper straws? or the candy ones the Carnival provides? Yep, you need these in your life.

Towel Clip - Don’t want to chase your towel across the pool deck? Grab some of these.

*We are not medical professionals, so we advise you to check with your PCM before trying any motion sickness meds. Or any other product that may affect your health.

**And if you have a horrible review or bad experience with any of the products we list, drop us a note - and some photos if you have them.
